US health care system:

Pros

·      Insurance is provided for everyone.

·      Medicaid/Medicare.

·      Safety regulations

·      Choose the type of your health insurance.

·      Patient privacy.

·      Emergency treatment-people can’t be turned away.

Cons

·      Doctors, hospitals and other medical providers are rewarded for doing more, not for being efficient.

·      US residents are getting old, sick and over weight.

·      We always want new technologies, services, and procedures.

·      We get tax breaks for buying health insurance.

·      Hospitals and other providers are gaining market share and are able to demand higher prices.

·      We have supply and demand problems; complicate efforts to slow spending.

Universal health care:

Pros

·      Unlimited access to health care

·      Increased efficiency and decreased medical errors

·      Affordable

·      Care will be extended

·      Medical costs will be cheaper

 Cons

·      Quality of care will be low

·      Funding falls to the taxpayers

·      Lack of competition

·      Taxes would be raised

·      Private insurance companies are not permitted

·      Longer wait times
